Automated Dialogue Replacement (ADR) is a technique widely used in film production. It consists of re-recording a dialogue that was interrupted in its first take by background noise, glitches in the sound or microphone, etc. The actors “dub” their own voices, preserving the acting and lip synchronization of the original scene. ADR recordings conducted in our studio serve Brazilian production companies.
How does it work?
The ADR technique is rather simple. First, we must locate and mark the sound glitch or dialogue error in the scene. Later, the actor or actress is called into our studio for additional recordings. The voice artist is instructed to play the same role they did in the original scene, but now with better quality sound capture.
ADR is also useful in correcting minor acting mistakes, such as when the actor or actress recorded the dialogue using a slightly different tone of voice.
ADR can be used to improve the quality of the production.
